Headshot of Billie Travelstead, MSW, CSWA, ASL therapist in Corvallis, OR

Billie Travelstead, MSW, CSWA (she/her)

Therapist, fluent in American Sign Language

Billie believes that choosing to seek therapy is a radical act of self-love. The first step in a journey that may not always be easy, but can allow one to more consciously create the life they desire. This gift of introspection and healing is one only you can give yourself, and she is honored to walk beside those who choose this path.

Though she draws from a number of theories and techniques, she is always strengths based and trauma informed in her practice. She often draws from theories of mindfulness, neurobiology, and self-compassion, and is a strong believer in providing both grounding and solution focused techniques that allow you to continue your personal introspection well after the time spent in session.

Billie is also a certified American Sign Language Interpreter and would be happy to work with those who communicate most comfortably in ASL. Billie received a Bachelors in Deaf Studies from Cal. State, Northridge then moved back to the Northwest to get a Masters in Social Work from Portland State University, with a focus on social justice and community based social work. She has done work in criminal justice settings and community non-profits but worked primarily in higher education in a number of roles- supporting first-generation college students, teaching life skills and emotional intelligence, and assisting employees with disabilities with accommodations.

Billie is a life-long learner who enjoys travel, crocheting, a good book, writing for reflection, yoga, her nieces and nephew, adventures with my partner, all night talks and laughing until her cheeks hurt.
